The full social housing allocations policy, the Guide to West Norfolk Homechoice explains the rules governing our choice-based lettings scheme operated on behalf of our 13 Housing Association partners.
Not everyone can join the housing register. Applicants will only be accepted if they are
- eligible within the meaning of the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996 and
- they have a local connection to the Borough Council of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk through living in West Norfolk for 3 out of the last 5 years or have close family living in West Norfolk for more than 5 years. The Guide to West Norfolk Homechoice shows other groups also considered to have a local connection, for example serving and former members of the Armed Forces who have been discharged within the last 5 years.
- their annual earned income, savings and equity in any property total less than one third of the average suitable price in West Norfolk unless there is an overwhelming welfare need
If you make an application and a decision is made not to include you on the register you will be informed of the reasons. You will be advised of your right to have the decision reviewed.
